Healthy Halloween recipes by 15 Minute Mom
As the time draws near for the time when chocolates and sweets reign supreme and children turn into sugar covered, sugar ingesting, little monsters, here’s how to keep it healthy and yet fun. Mums in the wood, asked Kripa Dewani, the true 15 minute mom, to send us some of her healthy Halloween recipes

Avo-choco orange pumpkin pods
Ingredients:
1 ripe banana
½ a large ripe avocado
1 spoonful organic sugarfree cocoa powder (you can use any chocolate powder)
30ml coconut milk (or your preferred milk)
- Into a blender, peel the banana, scoop half the avocado, add the cocoa powder and milk then blitz
- Cut the top end of an orange and scoop out the inside pulp
- Draw your pumpkin face with a permanent marker. Make sure the surface of the orange is dried with kitchen roll so the ink adheres
- Use the orange as a pod for the avo-choco mousse
- Chill and serve the day it’s made
Green Peanut Monsters
Ingredients:
2 green apples
2 spoonfuls of peanut butter
1 strawberry
Edible eyeballs
- Slice the green apples in quarters and remove core
- Cut out some mouths across the centre of the skin side of the apple
- Stuff some peanut butter in the mouths with a small spoon
- Slice the strawberry thinly and place on apples as tongues
- Place your eyeballs on the apples using peanut butter as glue
Spooky Graveyard Vegan Bolognese
Ingredients:
1 pack black bean noodles (most health shops have them)
1 medium sized cauliflower
1 celery stick
1 medium sized carrot
1 small red onion
1tspn chopped garlic
1 tin organic chopped tomatoes
3 tbspn organic passata
2 tbspn Olive oil
A few fresh basil leaves
Salt & pepper to taste
- Boil the black bean pasta for 6-8mins or as indicated on the package
- In a food processor chuck in the cauliflower florettes, celery cut in sticks, chunky cut carrots
- In a pan, heat the olive oil then add the garlic and chopped onion
- Let brown for a few minutes then add the veggie mince. Keep on high heat to burn off any water
- Add salt, pepper, basil
- After 2-3mins add the chopped tomatoes
- Stir and add the passata for more redness
- Serve hot or cold. Add vegan cheese or parmesan and olive eyeballs for effect
