Below is a list of free coffee morning events when parents and babies have an opportunity to meet and chat and benefit from a wealth of professionals and experts who share their knowledge and expertise for free. These free events are laid out by month. Please do feel free to come, share a cup of coffee with a friendly group of parents and listen to some very experienced speakers share their expertise on a variety of topics. These events are usually held in a cafe on St John’s Wood High Street, NW8.

Silvia Dalvit Ménabé Silvia studied psychology at the LMU in Munich, Germany, and gained her PhD in neuroscience from the University of London, completing her thesis on an EEG study on the relationship between attention and memory. She runs an advisory service for parents called Babybrains.

Babybrains is all about the importance of the parents’ direct role in a child upbringing, particularly in the first three years of life and Silvia will be joining us to chat to parents and take any questions you may have on How to boost your child’s independence from birth to 4Y”.

She does general paediatric outpatient clinics at the Hospital of St John & St Elizabeth and the Portland Hospital.She will be coming to talk to parents about the Meningitis Vaccine, the boosters, where to get it from, how to spot the symptoms, how you get Meningitis and how dangerous the illness really is.

Sweta Ramgharia Free workshop on how to introduce Math to under 4’s titled Math “DIY MATH for under 4’s” by Sweta Ramgharia.

Sweta Ramgharia taught at St John’s Wood pre-prep Reception prior to becoming a mum herself two years ago. She was instrumental in setting up a dedicated Art House Club for children at the school, and tutors children for school entrance tests on a one-on-one basis.

 Dr Alessandro Giardini Dr Alessandro Giardini is a paediatric cardiologist at Great Ormand Street Hospital. He will be coming to talk to parents about “How to avoid heart disease from a young age, heart murmurs and irregular heart beats and when to screen for inherited heart conditions particularly in active sporty children” 

Dr. Giardini is an expert in the diagnosis and management of children with congenital heart disease, in particular hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He is the lead for cardiology in-patient services. He also runs specialist clinics for children with paediatric hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Exercise physiology and the investigation and treatment of syncope and chest pain are also interests.

He is particularly expert in providing guidance for children with documented cardiac disease as well as those who complain of symptoms which arise during exercise, such as chest pain, palpitations or fainting/syncope.

Dr. Giardini provides expert cardiology advice and assessment to children and adolescents who actively participate or are planning to participate in sports or those children who are practicing a sport at an athletic or competitive level.

Dr Anshu Bhagat has set up a new app called GPDQ. This fantastic new app facilitates a private GP coming to your home within 2 hours of booking.  Victoria Rennoldson We will be organising a historical walk around St John’s Wood with Victoria Rennoldson. We will meet at Harry Morgan cafe at 10.30 and set off at shortly after. Please do be prompt if you would like to join us.

Assassins, spies, aristocrats, soldiers and an architect’s paradise! Come and discover St. John’s Wood’s secrets and fascinating history with a “Hidden Gems” walk guided by Victoria Rennoldson from Perfect Cuppa English.

1.5 hour walk, £10 per person. Places are limited to 10 people, so sign up soon.

This is a gentle, relaxed walk, but please wear comfortable shoes for walking and make sure you dress warmly, plus have an umbrella or waterproof jacket. We will continue with the walk, even if it’s light rain. Children are welcome in buggies.

If anybody has any mobility or fitness challenges, please can they let us know, so the walk can be adapted to include everybody.

Victoria Rennoldson was born in and has lived most of her life in the local area, and regularly leads walks for people to get to know some of the more hidden and unknown parts of North West London. Her business, Perfect Cuppa English, helps to settle international people and expats into life in London through personalised English language, culture and orientation.

Bahee Van De Bor Bahee Van de Bor a nutritionst and local mum will talk about weaning toddlers.

Bahee is a specialist Nephrology & Metabolic Dietitian at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and her talk will be titled, “5 tips to weaning” . She is also the founder and owner of Kids Nutrition.

This will be our last session for the summer after which we will break until September.

Dr Mahteen Jiwani Dr Mateen Jiwani, is a very well recommended GP looking after 9500 patients and one of the founding doctors of GPDQ. Dr Jiwani will be discussing “childhood ENT problems” and will cover grommets (insertion and removal), adenoids and tonsillitis, glue ear and other similar related issues.

Able to advise on all skin-related concerns.

Alongside her private practice, Dr Justine works as a consultant dermatologist in the NHS at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust where she is also responsible for teaching and training medical students at Imperial College London. Her articles have been published in leading dermatology journals and her straightforward and reliable advice is often featured in the media.

Dr Justine’s personal interests include yoga, nutrition and fitness. As such, she truly understands the interplay between looking and feeling good and considers skin health an integral part of overall wellbeing.
