Amanda Marks, parenting consultant of Through the Eyes of a parent
Mums In The Wood is very pleased to welcome Amanda Marks, as our very own parenting consultant. She will be working with parents of Mums In The Wood and we aim to hold workshops with her over the coming months, for parents who are both expecting and are parents of newborns. We asked Amanda to introduce herself to our parenting community and this is what Amanda had to say about her very well recognised and well accepted parenting courses. She works out of her clinics at 10, Harley Street and at 999 Finchley Road and we are very grateful to her for coming on board with us.
“Hi my name is Amanda Marks, my company name is Through The Eyes Of A Parent which predominantly reflects my role as a parent first and foremost to 3 boys and then my 30 years+ experience working with clients and their babies from newborn to ten years, from breastfeeding to sleep and feeding therapy.
I start early with parents when they meet me before the birth of their child, for my pre birth breastfeeding consultation, when they are given a full programme to follow for their first very important 6 weeks, The programme covers the journey to milk establishment, baby’s growth spurts, the importance of skin to skin, response feeding and most of all understanding the 4th trimester and the Attachment Parenting theory.
I then meet my clients and babies at 6 months+ to offer them my Food and Sleep Programme with 4 stages of self soothing without CC or CIO (Crying It Out). I work remotely via Skype, on What’s App or via Skype if outside London or abroad following clinic consultations at No 10 Harley Street .
My Toddlers and Older Children’s Programme focuses on boundaries, consistency and separation anxiety issues between children and parents. It is a lot of fun working directly with the children and seeing the positive changes to their sleep, bedtime regime and behaviour, throughout our two weeks together.
I also have in place the Magic Porridge, Chair, Reward Jar and Checklist.. Then we begin.
I am hugely passionate about any client I am assigned to, all my work is by personal referral and up to date I think over 700 families in the U.K and Worldwide. I enjoy giving talks and workshops too as although the subject is my expertise I always continue to learn via the mummies and can be supportive with their choice to make changes should they choose to consult with us afterwards.
I have a great and committed PA Sue Burns who is always on tap to chat, request case studies, set up initial consultations and send out my programme prior to any meetings. I have a largely growing FB group for parents which anyone is welcome to request to join and all will be accepted as members. It’s called Through The Eyes Of A Parent and is also the name of my website should you wish to check out my work and ethos.
I look forward to meeting you all soon and going over in brief, the importance of Attachment Parenting and how to create a balance gently for your family.”
