Mihaela Christou, Bespoke Jewellery

Mihaela Christou is a local mum who turned her passion into a reality in 2012. Originally from Zagreb, Croatia, she came to London in 2004 and fell in love with the city. She designs bespoke jewellery and makes every single piece herself. Nothing is made in a factory or by anyone else. She has, in the space of 3 years been acclaimed, not only by her loyal, local mum fans but also by the international world of fashion and has been featured in Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Vogue and more recently, House of Coco magazines. Lovely and warm, Mihaela is a pleasure to deal with. The pictures you see on her site are either samples or something she has made for someone already, so each new order is handmade, for the actual customer buying it. It just doesn’t get more bespoke than that!

Offspring on a String

Lovely sterling silver chains inspired by the quote, “a mother holds her children’s hands for a little while but their hearts forever” have been created by Shauna Kelly. Realising that she would not return to the corporate world after the birth of her child, Shauna decided to launch her own brand of jewellery that she views as being her “motherhood badge of honour”.  While still a relatively new, home-based business most of her customers buy for an expectant or first-time Mum but also include a soon-to-be University student gifting a ‘keep me close present’ to her Mum, a sister sending a birthday gift to her twin, a new Mum gifting to her own mother to mark her entry into ‘Grandmotherhood’ and more poignantly (though never marketed as such) a sentimental memory keepsake for a Mum of a precious ‘angel baby’.

She will also be launching a pet range in the Autumn – cats & dogs to start with designed to compliment the little human versions, as all pet owners/lovers treat their pets like their own children. There are also plans for other products down the line as she continues to build her little brand.

The chains can be customised to fit the number and gender of your offspring and are a touching little keepsake whether you decide to buy it as a gift or for yourself.
